Forget the 2nd childhood, Nasir Jones is in his 2nd prime.

Nas + Hit-Boy: Magic 2

Nas is undoubtedly in his 2nd prime. the legendary queens mc has reconnected with producer/rapper hit-boy for their 5th project, magic 2.

The’ve had an incredible run so far, and to see an elder stateman like nas still putting out great records on a consistent basis is amazing.

by listening to his lyrics, you can tell that he’s keeping his ear to the street and staying tuned in to what’s happening now. he keeps himself relevant by not only collaborating with guys like hit, but also keeping younger artists featured on his records. Records that sound organic and fitting for all parties involved.

magic 2 follows in this same trend.

at this point in my life and in nas’ career, i don’t need another illmatic. i don’t need another it was written…

i’m just glad to hear nas, kicking dope rhymes, over strong production, at least once a year.

as a lifelong fan of the artform, it’s all you can really ask for.

my favorite record on the album is “Office hours” with 50. two rich old heads, talking shit. gotta love it.
